TERRACES LIFE
Affordable Student Housing
LOCATION
St Barnabas Terraces are located at 64-66 and 76-82 Glebe Point Road, Glebe.
The Glebe village is a vibrant, multicultural, café-rich community close to the city centre. With readily available public transport, Glebe allows easy access to all that Sydney has to offer. Favourite destinations include Broadway Shopping Centre, Glebe Markets, Darling Harbour, Circular Quay as well as Sydney’s northern and eastern beaches..
PEOPLE
We cater for undergraduate students 18 – 21 years old, who stay for the whole academic year. Residents come from outer Sydney, regional NSW, interstate and overseas. Each resident is carefully interviewed before being offered a place.
Male and female residents live in separate houses with a Senior Resident in each house who is responsible for encouraging a fun and functional household. The Terraces provides rich opportunities to make close friendships that will last a lifetime.
.
LIFESTYLE
The Terraces lifestyle is relaxed, friendly and is a great first step to independent living as most residents are away from home for the first time. Because it is self-catered, residents learn life skills and have flexibility to structure their day. This is balanced with a supportive community which includes a Supervisor, Senior Resident in each house, and an onsite, After-Hours-Supervisor.
Each house accommodates 8 or 9 residents, who gather weekly for a communal dinner. Weekly rostered cleaning duties ensure well-maintained households and help equip residents for independent living.
CHRISTIANITY
There are opportunities to study the Bible and find out more about God through weekly Bible studies. Each year many residents attend St Barnabas, Broadway and anyone is free to tag along. Of course, it is not compulsory to attend and residents are free to be involved in any or no denomination or religion, as they choose.
TRANSPORT
There are buses from Glebe Point Road to the city approximately every 10 minutes, and more frequently from Parramatta Road. Central Station is a short bus ride or 15 minute walk.
Most residents don’t own a car, and survive quite well. Off street parking is not provided, but some metered street parking is available. There are a few unmetered streets in our vicinity.
